After graduation, you can stay and work in Australia under two different Streams:
1. Graduate Work Stream
This visa is for international students who have recently graduated with skills and qualifications that are relevant to specific occupations in Australia. It lets you live and work in Australia temporarily.
- Must meet the Australian Study Requirement within the given time frame under accredited institutions(CRICOS)
- Must have skills and qualifications Australia needs under (MLTSSL) list
- The occupation must be nominated, and the qualification level must be relevant to the said occupation
- Non-degree qualifications can be combined to meet the Australian Study Requirement (ex: trade/vocational qualifications, diplomas etc.)
How long can you stay after the VISA is granted?
Usually, it allows you to stay up to 18 months.
What is the MLTSSL list?
MLTSSL stands for “Medium and Long-term Strategic Skills List”. The list contains 212 skilled occupations in demand across various states and territories in Australia.

2. Post Study Work Stream
This visa is for international students who have recently graduated from institutions in Australia. It lets you live and work in Australia temporarily.
- Must meet the Australian Study Requirement within the given time frame under accredited institutions(CRICOS)
- Regardless of your field of study, you can apply for this visa stream if you meet all other criteria
- Unlike the Graduate Work stream, the non-degree qualification must be combined to complete an eligible degree to meet the Australian Study Requirement
How long can you stay after the VISA is granted?
It allows you to stay from 2-4 years depends on your graduate degree.
What is CRICOS stands for?
CRICOS is the standard abbreviation for “Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students”. It is an Australian government register that lists all Australian education providers offering courses to people studying in Australia on student visas and the courses offered. In summary, those institutions are allowed by the authority to providers to offer courses to overseas students studying in Australia on student visas.
